Students who do not adhere to the school policies, or above comportment standards are subject to evaluation of their enrollment in the offsite elective experience, which may impact their enrollment with the university.

For a first-time offense/incident that is not considered to be serious in nature, the Lead Instructor (and/or qualified school representative) will discuss the offense/incident with the student to address their behavior. If no additional violations occur, the issue may be considered resolved. The Lead Instructor should document the discussion through a summative email which is sent to the student.
For repeated offenses or an offense that is serious in nature, the Lead Instructor (and/or another qualified school representative) will follow up with additional discussion which will also be documented in a summative email to the student, and will include the student’s academic department chair. The student will be made aware that continued behavior may result in dismissal from the offsite elective experience.

If behavior continues, or it is determined that the offense poses a serious health or safety risk, the Lead Instructor will dismiss the student from the offsite elective experience. The Lead Instructor will issue written notification of this action to the student and the student’s academic department chair. If deemed appropriate, the student’s academic department chair will report the student’s behavior to the Dean of Students/Provost for evaluation which may lead to dismissal from the University.

If dismissed from the offsite elective experience, it will be the student’s responsibility to manage their return travel. Student will not be eligible for a refund for any portion of the travel fee initially paid to Bastyr University.
A student participating in any sponsored travel is subject to the disciplinary policy of the host institution or partner. The policy of the host institution or partner may supersede Bastyr University policy. Bastyr University is not responsible or able to assist students engaged in non-sponsored travel.
