BU Policy on Non-discrimination
Bastyr University is committed to maintaining an environment free from discrimination in all aspects of employment, admissions, and participation in University programs, activities, and benefits. The University prohibits discrimination against any person on the basis of ancestry, race, color, creed, religion (including religious dress and grooming practices), sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and related medical conditions), gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, ethnic or national origin; age; disability; marital status, genetic information, medical condition, veteran or military status, or any other classification protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
Bastyr University complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as amended, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and applicable state and local disability laws. In accordance with Title III of the ADA (42 U.S.C. § 12182; 28 C.F.R. Part 36), the University does not discriminate on the basis of disability in the full and equal enjoyment of its goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations. The University will make reasonable modifications to policies, practices, or procedures when necessary to avoid discrimination, unless such modifications would fundamentally alter the nature of the program or impose an undue burden
(see Accommodation of Disabilities policy).
This policy applies to all members of the University community. While this policy does not extend jurisdiction over individuals unaffiliated with the University, those who engage in discriminatory conduct within University programs or on University property may be subject to appropriate action, including limitations on access or participation. Vendors and contractors providing services to the University are expected to comply with nondiscrimination provisions as outlined in their agreements and applicable law.
