Grievance Processes

Students who wish to raise a concern or report an incident may use the Grievance Process. Individuals will not be discriminated against, harassed, or retaliated against as a consequence of making a complaint. This includes com-plaints made by and/or about students, academic and clinical faculty, staff, or anyone in any level of leadership in the organization. To initiate a grievance, students are encouraged to send an email with specific information to: grievance@bastyr.edu

Once received, the student will be contacted and directed to one of the following procedures in order to resolve their issue:

  • Grade Appeal Process – For appeal of a final grade for a course or a clinic shift. The full process is available in the University Catalog under Academic Policy and Procedures Manual. (Grading Policies>Grade Appeals).
  • Equity Resolution Process –For a grievance covered by the Bastyr University Civil Rights Policies. The Policies and the Process are located in this handbook un-der their own headings.
  • Issue Resolution Process – A grievance which does not fit into one of the above categories, or that involves a University employee, will be heard through this process.
