Admission Types

For students who are granted admission to their intended academic program, one of the following types of admission will be assigned:

Full Admission Status

Students will be granted full admission status if they have submitted all required application materials, completed all required prerequisite coursework for their intended program, and met the minimum academic criteria set forth by the faculty and appropriate dean. Full admission will be granted upon full review by the faculty or admission committee or approved by the appropriate dean. Bastyr University reserves the right to require students to take additional prerequisites and to successfully complete them at a prescribed minimum grade in their initial quarter or quarters of enrollment as a condition of continued participation in the program.

Conditional Admission Status

Conditional Acceptance Status: Applicants who have not completed all required prerequisites for their intended program or are missing any required credentials for the admission file, but who otherwise meet the minimum requirements for admission, may be offered conditional admission. Conditionally admitted students must satisfy all conditions stipulated in the admission decision letter prior to enrolling at Bastyr University.

Probationary Admission Status

Upon the recommendation of the admission committee or program faculty, applicants who have submitted all required admission documentation, but do not meet program requirements for full admission and show potential for succeeding in their intended program, may be offered probationary admission on a temporary basis. Applicants admitted on a probationary status may be registered for no more than two quarters and must achieve the minimum grade as stipulated in the admission decision letter (typically a “B-” or higher for undergraduate students or “B” or higher for graduate students) in all coursework in the first quarter to be considered for full admission and continued enrollment. Probationary status may be continued for no more than two quarters and is subject to the terms set forth in the original offer of admission. Students who do not fulfill the requirements set forth in their admission decision letter for probationary admission status will be subject to academic dismissal.
